The idea behind the Cornerstone Concept, which was developed in 2002, is to develop our members and chapters in four distinct areas: (1) scholarship, (2) new member education, (3) values education and officer development, and (4) chapter and colony development through the Renaissance Program. It is the Fraternity's desire that these materials provide you with the skills and values that will become the cornerstone of your collegiate and fraternal careers, as well as for the rest of your life.
It can be said that the Fraternity hopes and strives to bring out the very best in every one of its members. In this hope, the Fraternity expects each member to put forth his very best. It should be the personal ambition of every Sigma Pi to realize the Fraternity's ideals in his own daily life in a manner which will cause others to model his character and accomplishments. This is a philosophy that holds true not only in daily life, but in academic pursuits, as well.
One of the fundamental objectives of the Fraternity is the promotion of scholarship and the learning and application of knowledge. One of the great results of this objective is the development of the "whole" person. Through the college experience the whole person is enriched and developed -spiritually, physically, emotionally, socially, and intellectually. Every experience and relationship is enhanced for the individual who is more fully developed. All of life takes on a deeper meaning. The "renaissance man" is one who brings an understanding of many things to all he does. He sees life in all of its creative possibilities and looks forward to the exploration of all that it has to offer.
Education contributes to the student and the life he lives, and the world becomes a better place because of him and all of the possibilities he can create.
