JOB INTRODUCTION

In 1937, James H. Hauser (K) loaded up his car and set off on a journey for what was to become the position of Educational Leadership Consultant (ELC). The position was created because our chapters could benefit from the implementation of ideas and tactics that have been adopted by the Executive Office and our successful chapters. Our ELCs have continued to benefit both our individual chapters and the fraternity as a whole. Since the inaugural trip by Brother Hauser, 160+ young brothers have held the title of ELC. Some names you may or may not recognize are: Past Grand Sages Ed R. McClane (BG), Mark A. Metz (EZ), James S. Verplank (BM) and Larry Rovira (EN); as well as current Executive Director Mark S. Briscoe (AP) and the Sigma Pi Educational Foundation Chief Operating Officer Jonathan Frost (DZ).

Today’s Executive Office has several different types of consultants. There is the traditional ELC position in which a consultant is in charge of a specific region of chapters. There are also Expansion Consultants which are in charge of visiting a campus that doesn’t have a Sigma Pi chapter and recruiting like minded individuals to form a colony of Sigma Pi. Finally there are Colony Development Consultants who are in charge of the colonies. Their job is to assist, teach and train the colonies so they can charter and become full Sigma Pi chapters.

All of these men have had the tremendous opportunity to travel the United States and Canada, meet brothers and make connections all over North America and build their fraternal bonds beyond their own chapter. At the same time they have advanced our fraternity by evaluating our chapters and colonies and offering assistance and suggestions on how to improve. This type of dedication and service is a major reason why Sigma Pi is successful today.

As a consultant, you will be challenged to improve and enhance the skills you acquired in school and further prepare yourself for your career by gaining important managerial and hands-on experience. A position with the Executive Office will give you the opportunity to visit places that you may never get the chance to travel to again. What other job allows you to set your own schedule, travel across the country, make long lasting contacts all while assisting in making Sigma Pi a leading fraternity in the Greek world?
